How WHOOP Combines Your Health Records with Daily Data to Personalize Your Coaching

WHOOP has always built coaching around what your body is doing right now: how much strain you're taking on, how well you've slept, how efficiently you've recovered. But for members managing a condition, recovering from a procedure, or starting a new medication, daily data is only one layer of the picture. Your daily metrics tell one story. Your medical history tells another. They've lived in different places.
That changes with the HealthEx integration. HealthEx is the secure, consumer-driven platform that consolidates fragmented medical records from multiple locations into one place. It handles the connection to participating US providers, the authentication, and the secure movement of records. WHOOP integrates with HealthEx so members can bring those records into the app with their permission.
US members 18 and older can connect their electronic health records to WHOOP, importing diagnoses, medications, procedures, and lab history alongside the biometric data WHOOP already tracks. The result is a more complete view of health, and guidance that can be more personalized, relevant, and actionable.
What you can bring into WHOOP
Through the HealthEx integration, WHOOP can import four categories of health information from participating US providers: the conditions and diagnoses in your record, your current and historical medications, the procedures and treatments you've had, and your lab results.
The integration is opt-in, US-only, and available to members 18 and older. Learn more about the full mechanics of the connection, what each category includes, what isn't shared, and how the controls work, here: How to connect and use your medical records in the WHOOP app.
The Missing Context Behind Your Metrics
Daily metrics are most useful when WHOOP knows what's normal for you. Your Sleep, Recovery, and Strain are easier to interpret when WHOOP understands the conditions and medications shaping them.
A few examples of where this connected view might have the most impact:
- Hypertension. If you're managing high blood pressure, the medications and treatments in your record can shape the daily metrics WHOOP measures. With that context, your recovery, resting heart rate, and HRV trends can be read alongside the clinical reality behind them, not just as shifts away from your usual baseline.
- Recovery from a procedure. After surgery, your training capacity, recovery, and sleep can all shift while your body heals. With your procedure in context, WHOOP can interpret those changes against what is happening in your health history, not just your usual baseline.
- A new prescription. Some medications can shape the daily metrics WHOOP tracks. When WHOOP knows you started a new prescription, it can consider that medication as possible context for changes in your data, instead of pointing only to behavior.
Your medical history does not tell WHOOP what to do. It gives WHOOP more context, so your coaching can better reflect what may be shaping your data.
What changes inside the WHOOP app
Your health records are available in the app, but their impact extends beyond a single screen. They give WHOOP AI the context to understand you more fully — so when you ask questions, get coaching, or explore insights, the guidance reflects more of your actual history. That context also becomes part of My Memory, helping WHOOP build a more complete understanding of you over time. WHOOP works best when it understands more of your story. Ask WHOOP AI why your recovery has been low this week, and the answer can account for the medication you started. Explore your data, and the insights can reflect more of the health context shaping it. Once your records are connected, that context is simply part of the experience.
WHOOP does not diagnose, treat, or interpret your records the way a clinician does. The records are an input to coaching context, not a clinical assessment. Conversations about your conditions, medications, and care plan stay with your healthcare provider.
Designed around your control
Medical records are different from any other category of health data, and the integration is built that way. You choose what to connect. You see exactly what comes in. You can disconnect at any time. The full controls, including how the connect flow handles authentication and what happens to imported data after disconnect, live in Medical Records in WHOOP: How It Works and sit within WHOOP’s broader privacy policy.
