While the form factor of the WHOOP Strap 3.0 remains the same, a number of details and updates constitute great strides in comfort, convenience and accuracy.
Significantly, the WHOOP Strap 3.0 now features 5-day battery life. Data collection and accuracy have always been top priorities at WHOOP. Now we’ve found ways to optimize battery life as well, while simultaneously maintaining the highest integrity of our data.
The Strap 3.0 is also Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) compatible, which allows for connectivity to other BLE compatible apps and devices, including bikes, treadmills, watches and more.
Additionally, we believe our members will enjoy the new ProKnit bands, the most advanced and comfortable bands we’ve ever created. They are stretchy yet sturdy, and engineered for a high-performance lifestyle. ProKnits are lined with high-tenacity filaments that form an active layer between the band and the surface of the skin. This layer absorbs sweat and displaces pressure for maximum comfort, no matter what your activities include. We’ve also added an internal rubber strip to prevent the strap from slipping.
Two of the core elements of WHOOP are the ability to quantify both how recovered your body is each day (using heart rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep), as well as the cardiovascular strain you take on. The new Strain Coach now provides an activity level recommendation based on your recovery status. It will show you as you’re working out whether to push harder, if you’ve reached your strain goal, or when you’re overdoing it. The same feedback previously provided in your Weekly Performance Assessment is now available 24/7, in real time.
Last year we released a feature that enables you to overlay your WHOOP metrics onto photos and easily share them on social media. Now, with WHOOP Live, you can also create videos displaying your real-time data. Whether you’re recording alone, or with a coach, trainer or friend, WHOOP Live lets you capture your strain, heart rate and calories evolving over the course of any sport or workout. Save and analyze the videos to track your progress, or share them with others to compete and compare with friends and training partners.
One of the key components of BLE compatibility is the new Heart Rate Broadcast feature. The WHOOP Strap 3.0 will connect to most apps and devices that have a BLE heart rate profile–things like Peloton cycles, Wahoo bike computers, Concept2 ergometers, and apps like Strava or TrainerRoad. You’ll now be able to see you live heart rate displayed from WHOOP on many of your favorite pieces of training equipment.
These features are only available in combination with the WHOOP Strap 3.0. New members can join today for as little as $30 to start, and you’ll receive the WHOOP Strap 3.0 for free when you sign up. Existing members can upgrade directly through the WHOOP app (make sure you have the latest update).
You can learn more about what’s new with the WHOOP Strap 3.0 by visiting whoop.com/support, reading the full press release, or listening to the WHOOP Podcast with Founder and CEO Will Ahmed. In the days ahead, we’ll also be taking a deeper dive into many of the new functions and capabilities here on The Locker.
