May 22, 2019

Today we’re proud to announce the launch of the new WHOOP Strap 3.0 featuring WHOOP Live. We flipped the script with this episode, WHOOP Director of Military Sales Robert Moeller hosts and asks me everything you want to know about the new WHOOP Strap 3.0.

We discuss what’s new with the Strap itself, including longer battery life and our first engineered band, as well as a variety of exciting new WHOOP Live features now available in the app, from the Strain Coach to WHOOP Snap+.

We also talk about how to get your hands on a WHOOP Strap 3.0, whether you’re just signing up, or a current member looking to upgrade.

Everyone here at WHOOP has been working tirelessly to get the 3.0 on the market, and I can’t wait to see what our community does with it.

Show Notes:

2:12 - Overview of what’s new with the WHOOP Strap 3.0.

3:47 - 5-Day Battery Life. “Really it’s a breakthrough in algorithms,” Will says. “I think it puts our hardware well ahead of everything else on the market.”

5:05 - ProKnit Band. “It’s like I’m wearing a cloud,” Robert states. “I would call this our renaissance band.” Will adds “We wanted the out-of-the-box band to be world class, and to be something that would really adapt to anyone’s lifestyle well.”

8:01 - Bluetooth Low Energy Compatible. This improves connectivity to your phone, and allows for the new Heart Rate Broadcast feature.

8:47 - Form Factor hasn’t changed with the Strap 3.0, and bands from the 2.0 will still fit.

9:21 - Strain Coach. “At any point, based on your recovery and based on the strain you’ve already accumulated, it’s going to tell you how much more strain you should put on your body to be optimal,” Will says. “This is really a feature that I think everyone can benefit from.”

14:20 - WHOOP Snap+ lets you stream WHOOP data onto video. “It’s a feature that can be really playful and really silly, but also used for hardcore coaching. I’m excited to see how the WHOOP population uses it.”

17:48 - Heart Rate Broadcast. “It’s now going to allow you to connect your WHOOP Strap 3.0 to other devices, other software.”

19:12 - WHOOP Live Features are enabled by the technology that’s in the WHOOP Strap 3.0, and therefore are not available with the Strap 2.0. “We will continue to support the WHOOP Strap 2.0 and upgrade features for it.” For the moment, ProKnit bands are only available with the 3.0 as well.

20:24 - Does it Cost More? When you join WHOOP you get a Strap 3.0 for free. “We haven’t changed anything about membership pricing,” Will says. “Now when you join you get upgraded hardware.”

21:34 - When Will it Ship? “We’re fulfilling orders based on demand. Initial quantities are limited.”

21:55 - Learn More on the whoop.com main page and at whoop.com/support.
