By WHOOP

BOSTON, MA – July 6, 2016 – WHOOP today announced the addition of two talented individuals, Kristen Holmes-Winn and Brent Koeppel, whose expertise in sports performance and technology, respectively, will bolster the company’s mission to optimize performance for elite athletes and teams.

Kristen Holmes-Winn, the award-winning head coach of Princeton Field Hockey, one of the most successful teams in the history of the Ivy league, joins the team as Vice President of Performance Optimization. Kristen’s responsibilities will include educating new customers and building relationships with elite athletes to drive meaning in their data. She will also direct research opportunities to optimize the WHOOP System for athletes and teams.

Holmes-Winn was one of the most dominant coaches in Ivy League history and has spent her career teaching elite athletes the skills and behaviors needed to reach peak performance. Her successful 13-year run at Princeton included the Ivy League’s first-ever National Championship in 2012. She has also coached several Olympians and, as an athlete in her own right, was a three-time NCAA All-American and an alternate in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Brent Koeppel, a tablet product leader in both consumer and medical markets with a keen grasp on technology implementation and usability, has been named Vice President of Software. In this role, Koeppel will lead a software team of iOS, Android, and backend developers on a cloud-based sports physiology platform for managing performance of elite athletes.

Koeppel brings more than 25 years of engineering leadership experience to the company. Prior to WHOOP, he led teams that pioneered tablet and mobile technologies in both medical and consumer spaces, including Toast, Assistive Technology (acquired by Tobii), Isabella Products, Tap n’ Tap, and Vecna. He holds degrees from MIT, MGH, and management & innovation programs at Harvard University.“Kristen Holmes-Winn and Brent Koeppel are at the top of their respective fields,” said Will Ahmed, Founder and CEO of WHOOP. “Kristen has experience building and using technology to train elite athletes and can offer strong leadership as we educate our coaches and teams on the WHOOP System. Brent has demonstrated that he can build and manage engineering teams and technology development at every stage and will offer terrific expertise as we scale both.”

Holmes-Winn and Koeppel join WHOOP as the company continues to play an increasingly important role in the athletic industry’s shift toward more data-driven decision making. WHOOP is currently being used by teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, along with several Olympic teams and trainers for some of the world’s most elite athletes like LeBron James. At the collegiate level, teams in all major conferences are using the system.
